Positive Alternatives for Youth (PAY)
The Positive Alternatives for Youth (PAY) program is committed to supporting youth ages 12-20 to develop skills and be positively involved in the community.
Our staff is comprised of two case managers and a number of volunteer mentors who supervise and work alongside the youth.
The program involves shifts from a variety of seasonal and year long work centers.
The program requires a commitment to at least one volunteer shift a week.
Our day shifts run from 12 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and our evening shifts generally run from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The PAY Program can provide you with:
- Volunteer experience to add to your resume
- High School credit
- Experience working in a team
- Opportunity to contribute to the community
Current Work Centres:
- Work Skill Development Opportunities:
- Harvest Manitoba – Providing food for families in need.
- Revive and Thrive Wholesale – Assisting in the day-to-day of an exciting new local thrift store.
- Working Outdoors and with Animals:
- Animal Services – General cleaning of facilities; caring for and socializing dogs.
- Fort Whyte Farms – General farm labor, caring for animals and cooking sustainable farm fresh meals.
- Assiniboine Park – Cleaning up one of Winnipeg’s most beautiful parks.
It should be noted that not all of the work centers are running shifts all year round. If you are interested in the program please contact us and we will provide the current shift schedule.
