Independent Living Supports for Youth – North
The Link has two programs in the north to support youth preparing to transition to independent living.
These programs are designed to address the needs of older youth (ages 16 – 21) who are transitioning into adulthood and increased independence.
The ILS programs consist of services for youth learning to live on their own and in some circumstances, with their own children. Youth in the programs are expected to consistently participate in an educational program, employment program or a combination of the two in order to maintain their placement.
All youth involved in the programs receive a minimum of 15 support hours per week. Some individuals require higher levels of support to meet the expectations of the program and work towards their care plan goals. Support hours are determined based on individual needs and plans and are typically used to assist clients with budgeting, shopping, child care, scheduling/attending appointments and school or employment commitments.
