Of Lives
Changed

At our recent Annual General Meeting on September 25, 2025, we officially announced a historic milestone: The Link has been repatriated to the Brokenhead Ojibway Nation.

This follows the signing of an MOU on April 17, 2025, with Chief BlueSky and Council. Our due diligence process — completed a month early — confirmed that The Link is a strong, well-governed organization. Brokenhead’s legal counsel reviewed our operations and advised that no changes were needed.

On September 22, 2025, our bylaws were formally repealed and replaced and officially shared at the AGM. Under the new bylaws, Brokenhead Ojibway Nation — represented by the Chief and Council — is now the sole member of the corporation.

The Board of Directors remains in place and continues to oversee day-to-day governance. With several current vacancies, we’re working closely with the Nation to begin adding Brokenhead representation to the board. At this time, our senior leadership team remains unchanged.

This is a first in Manitoba, and possibly in Canada — a 96-year-old organization transitioning to First Nations governance. With 70% of the youth and families we serve identifying as First Nations, this change ensures our services are truly led by and for the communities we serve.

This repatriation is a meaningful and historic step. We are honoured to move forward under the governance of the Nation, with respect, partnership and shared vision guiding the path ahead.
