Residential Support Mentor

Provide independent living supports to young adults who may have intellectual disabilities and/or mental health issues, and who experience barriers to living independently in the community. Being an active role model.  Empowering individuals to gain and maintain independent living situations.

 

Accounting Clerk

Provides assistance for the accuracy and timeliness of the disbursement cycle and ensuring disbursements are processed according to agency policies and procedures. Provides the payroll department assistance with the timely and accurate hourly payroll information, journal entries, account reconciliations, and banking information as requested by managers and accounting department and completes year-end balancing. Maintains the books for the two social enterprises of The Link.

Fund Development Specialist

Reporting to the CEO the Development Specialist will provide dynamic and forward thinking leadership and will serve as the primary spokesperson to donors and stakeholders.  The Fund Development Specialist will work on special campaigns such as capital, major gifts and endowment. The Fund Development Specialist assists in prospect research and management, stewardship, donor recognition, case management, management of capital campaign and progress reports. This position will be responsible for gift processing and acknowledgement of special gifts.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Major Gift Coordination

Build a sustainable base for philanthropic fundraising that will serve the mission of The Link

Work in collaboration and cooperation with the CEO and volunteer leadership to advance the development of a foundation.

Plan, implement and monitor fundraising goals and strategies.

Develop and monitor weekly/monthly work flow plans.

Ensure accurate and up-to-date case material is available and utilized in supporting gift solicitations.

Assist in developing individual and organizational prospect strategies and ensure required follow-up; arrange required team meetings; collect and/or ensure recording of the various campaign ‘moves’ and prepare required reports to track and manage the progress in achieving goals.

Supervise the maintenance of all fundraising related records and files.

Ensure timely completion of research reports and profiles on active donor prospects; assist with profile analysis, strategic direction and execution of plans.

Implement systems and processes to ensure the regular tracking of donor solicitations; assist in prompting action; undertake active coordination of prospect development activity and ensure management is apprised of all progress related to prospects and files.

Ensure appropriate visual representation for the campaign and related project progress.

Gift Management and Donor Stewardship

Ensure gifts are properly receipted, processed, acknowledged according to established protocols. This includes:

Manage pledges and payments.

Develop and maintain master list of donors and prospects for campaigns.

Develop and maintain a follow-up list of prospects for campaigns.

Maintain donor recognition list. 

Develop and maintain donor individual payment schedule and payment schedules for pledges to input in the fundraising software. 

Input all donor information into the fundraising software.

Develop donor correspondence; draft written support material, promotional material, newsletter stories

Profile documents in hard and soft copies.

Donor recognition, publication and posting of donors.

Preparation of thank you letters.

Assist with the development, implementation and day-to-day management of a structured and consistent stewardship program that assures continuous and mutually beneficial relationships with donors to sustain long-term relationships.

Demonstrate exemplary customer service in all exchanges.

Assist in designing and delivering donor relation and donor development activities, meetings and events.

Grant Writing and Other

Work within Canada Revenue Agency Guidelines; the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Donor Bill of rights and Code of Ethical Principles and Standards of Professional Practice.

Comply with policies and procedures of The Link (including FIPPA)

Keep up-to-date in fund development and planned giving best practices, trends, issues, techniques, related laws.

Provide Information as required to support the development department’s financial accountability and budget.

Participate in The Link events where donor prospects and friends are gathered.

Assist in creating and developing new fund development initiatives as required including annual giving strategies.

Research and identify foundations and organizations that offer applicable grant funding. Compose applications for grant funding. Submit applications in accordance with grant requirements and deadlines

Ensure all final reports for grant funding are submitted in a timely manner and that proper recognition is given to funders for capital grant funding received.

Assist in maintaining follow-up contact with the grant maker regarding the status, results, and potential feedback

QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate should demonstrate the following competencies, which incorporate the Seven Sacred Teachings;

Essential:

Undergraduate degree in business, marketing or in a related field

3 – 5 years’ progressive experience working in a the field of fundraising development and/or capital campaigns

Experience with organizing and implementing annual, major and business sponsorships, and direct mail and special events

Experience utilizing social media and web based platforms for fundraising and donor cultivation

Preferred member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP)

Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Computer literacy and a knowledge of donor database systems

Available to work flexible hours

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Current Criminal Record checks with Vulnerable Sector Screening, Child Abuse and Adult Registry Checks (current within 3 months)

Preferred:

Experience working in a non-profit environment.

Knowledge of Indigenous language and culture is an asset.
